Qualification Pre-Check Guide
Audience: External (Public)
Purpose: To empower potential customers to identify clear, non-negotiable site conditions that would make a MeterHome™ BESS installation impossible, allowing them to pre-qualify their home before scheduling a formal site assessment.
Can a MeterHome System Be Installed at Your Home?
While a detailed on-site assessment by a certified installer is always the final step, there are a few fundamental requirements for a MeterHome™ BESS installation. You can use this guide to perform a quick pre-check yourself. If your home falls into any of the "impossible" scenarios below, a MeterHome system will unfortunately not be a viable solution for you.
1. The Location: Indoor Only
The most important requirement is that the MeterHome™ system is certified and designed for INDOOR INSTALLATION ONLY.
- Installation is IMPOSSIBLE if: You plan to install the system outdoors. This includes locations like the side of your house, a carport, an open patio, or any area that is exposed to weather, rain, or direct sunlight.
- Where it CAN be installed: A protected, indoor space like a garage, basement, or a dedicated utility closet.
2. The Space: No Living Areas
For safety, the system CANNOT be installed in any habitable or finished living space.
- Installation is IMPOSSIBLE if: The only available location is a bedroom, a hallway, a living room, a finished home office, or any closet located within these living areas.
3. The Environment: Extreme Temperatures
The system has strict operating temperature limits, especially for the battery.
- Installation is IMPOSSIBLE if: The chosen indoor location (e.g., an uninsulated garage or shed) regularly experiences temperatures that fall below freezing (32°F / 0°C) or rise above 95°F (35°C). The battery cannot safely charge outside of this temperature range and will constantly enter a fault state.
4. The Structure: Unstable or Insufficient Space
The system has significant weight and requires clear space for ventilation.
- Installation is IMPOSSIBLE if:
- The only available floor space for the 463 lb battery is not a solid, level surface (e.g., an unstable wooden platform or a severely sloped floor).
- The only available wall for the 88 lb inverter is un-reinforced brick, stone, or does not have studs to securely mount to.
- You cannot provide the required minimum clearances for ventilation: 3.3 feet (or ~40 inches) of clear space in front and above the units.
What If My Home Passes This Pre-Check?
If your home does not have any of these "impossible" conditions, that's great news! The next step is to schedule a formal on-site assessment with a MeterHome™ Certified Installer. They will confirm the final details and ensure your chosen location is perfect for your new energy system.
