Your MeterHome™ Journey - What to Expect

Audience: External (Public)

Purpose: To provide a clear, step-by-step timeline of what a new customer should expect after expressing interest in a MeterHome™ BESS, covering the key stages from the initial site assessment to the final activation of their system.

Welcome to the MeterHome Family!

Congratulations on taking a major step toward energy independence. We're excited to have you on board. To ensure your journey is as smooth and transparent as possible, this guide outlines the four key phases you can expect between your purchase and having a fully operational system.

Phase 1: The Pre-Delivery Site Assessment

Before your system is delivered, your MeterHome™ Certified Installer will schedule a crucial on-site visit. This is not the installation itself, but a vital planning step to guarantee a seamless installation day.

What the installer will do:

  • Confirm the Location: They will work with you to confirm the best physical location for your inverter and battery, ensuring it meets all safety and ventilation requirements.
  • Inspect Your Electrical Panel: The installer will examine your home's main electrical panel to plan for the new circuit breakers and ensure everything is up to code.
  • Plan the Wiring Route: They will map out the most efficient and discreet path for the wiring that will connect your solar panels, inverter, battery, and electrical panel.

Your Role: This is a great time to ask any final questions about the placement of the equipment and what the installation will look like.

Phase 2: Delivery of Your System

Once the site assessment is complete, your system will be scheduled for delivery.

What to expect:

  • You will receive four (4) boxes containing the main components:
    • 1 box with the ESS Inverter
    • 1 box with the ESS Battery Enclosure
    • 2 boxes, each with one LFP Battery Module
  • CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: These components are extremely heavy, with the battery system weighing over 460 lbs. For your safety, please do not attempt to move or unbox any of the components yourself. Your installation team has the proper equipment and training to handle them safely.

Phase 3: The Day of Installation

This is the day your home is transformed. The installation is a comprehensive process that typically takes a full day.

What the installers will do:

  1. Mount the Hardware: They will securely mount the inverter on the wall and position the battery enclosure in the location confirmed during the site assessment.
  2. Run Electrical Wiring: The team will run all necessary conduit and wiring to safely connect every part of your new system.
  3. A Brief Power Interruption:

IMPORTANT: For the safety of the installation team, your home's power will need to be shut off for a period of time while they make the final connections to your main electrical panel. The lead installer will give you a heads-up before this happens so you can save any work on computers and prepare for the brief outage.

  4. Install Battery Modules: They will carefully install the two heavy battery modules into the enclosure.
  5. Power On & Commission: Once everything is wired, the installer will follow a strict startup procedure to energize the system. They will then place a mandatory call to MeterHome Support to complete the final software setup and commissioning, ensuring your system is connected to our monitoring platform (RMS).
  6. Your System is Live! Once registered, you will be able to see your system online via the LED indicators on the display.
