A Homeowner's Guide to System Maintenance
Audience: External (Public)
Purpose: To provide homeowners with a clear, simple guide to the minimal maintenance required for their MeterHome™ system, and to strongly reinforce critical safety warnings about what they should not do.
Designed for a Low-Maintenance Lifestyle
Your MeterHome™ Energy Storage System is designed to be a reliable, "set it and forget it" appliance. It has no user-serviceable parts inside and does not require any regular technical maintenance from you, the homeowner.
However, a few simple housekeeping tasks will ensure your system continues to operate safely and efficiently for years to come.
Your Responsibilities: Two Simple Checks
You only need to perform two simple checks periodically.
1. Keep it Clear: The most important maintenance task is to ensure the system can breathe.
- Check the Vents: Once a month, take a quick look at the ventilation slots on the sides of the ESS Inverter. Make sure they are not blocked by boxes, storage items, or a buildup of dust and debris.
- Maintain Clearances: Remember to keep the required clearance zones around the system free of clutter (39.4 inches in front and top, 11.8 inches on sides and rear). Proper airflow is essential for cooling and safe operation.
2. Perform a Visual Inspection: While you are checking the vents, do a quick visual inspection of the system.
- Look for any signs of damage to the outside of the units.
- Ensure all cables are still secure and do not appear damaged or frayed.
Critical Safety Warnings: What NOT to Do
Your safety is the top priority. To prevent serious injury and to avoid voiding your warranty, you must NEVER do the following:
- DO NOT Open the Units: WARNING: The inverter and battery enclosures contain high-voltage components that can cause severe electrical shock or death. NEVER attempt to open the cover of either unit for any reason.
- DO NOT Spray with Water: Never spray water or any liquid cleaner directly onto the inverter or battery enclosure. If the units need cleaning, use a dry or slightly damp cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces only.
- DO NOT Attempt Repairs: If you see an alarm in your 'SolarHope' app or suspect an issue with your system, do not attempt to fix it yourself. All service and repairs must be performed by a MeterHome™ Certified Installer or a qualified, licensed electrician.
By following these simple guidelines, you can ensure your MeterHome system remains a safe, reliable, and maintenance-free part of your home for its entire 10-year warranty period and beyond.
