Did you know your MeterHome™ system can act like a smart energy trader, automatically working to lower your electricity bill? If your utility company has you on a Time-of-Use (TOU) plan, you can unlock powerful savings by letting your system optimize when you use, store, and sell energy.

What is a Time-of-Use (TOU) Plan?

A TOU plan means your utility charges you different prices for electricity at different times of the day.

  • On-Peak Hours: Usually in the late afternoon and evening (e.g., 4 PM - 9 PM), when electricity demand is high and the price is at its highest.
  • Off-Peak Hours: Usually overnight and in the morning (e.g., 10 PM - 6 AM), when electricity demand is low and the price is at its lowest.

How MeterHome Maximizes Your TOU Savings

When your installer configures your system for a TOU or "Feed-in-Priority" work mode, it follows a simple but powerful strategy: Buy Low, Sell High.

1. It "Buys Low" by Charging Smartly Your system is intelligent enough to know when electricity is cheapest. It can be programmed to forcibly charge the battery from the grid during the low-cost Off-Peak hours overnight. You are essentially filling up your "energy tank" with the cheapest power available.

2. It "Sells High" by Discharging Smartly During the expensive On-Peak hours, when grid power costs the most, your system does two things:

  • It powers your home from your battery, so you avoid buying expensive electricity.
  • It sells your excess solar energy back to the grid when the financial credits or payback rates are at their highest.

The Result: A Lower Bill

By automatically shifting your energy usage, your MeterHome system ensures you use the least amount of expensive "On-Peak" power possible. You are either using your own stored solar energy or the cheap "Off-Peak" energy you stored overnight.
